Evolution 2.0 UI proposal

Evolution
Evolution

Here at Ximian we have been brainstorming a bit about what happens
next in the Evolution world. One of the ideas that has come up is a
substantial overhaul of Evolution's UI.

Since images speak better than words, here are the mockups for some
designs that Anna has developed: (this is just to give a very rough
idea of what it would be like; the icons and labels are not final, the
widgets are not the real ones etc.)

Re: Evolution 2.0 UI proposal

IMHO breaking it into "smaller" apps will not result in smaller applications. I think that the loading times of complete EVO and that of a separate EVO mail component are approx 95% the same based on the code-size.

Breaking it down is OK if you have the money to maintain separate development teams and extra money for the integration testing (e.g. Apple). We don't.

One thing is to break e.g. Mozilla into separate apps. This makes sense provided the non-existent integration between the browser, email, composer and caledar.

EVO is unique because it integrates the calendar , tasks and email in nice groupware fashion. If you do not need this you'll be better off with other product, be it pine, mutt, KMail or mozilla mail.
