Re: X Developer's Meeting

How do all these changes affect portability across different xservers? For examle, say fd.o xserver becomes the new de-facto linux x server and gnome and kde and a bunch of apps start to use and depend on extensions that enable compositing/etc, then I log into my windows machine one day and try to use exceed to fire up gnome remotely? Will it work or are apps that lean heavily on these extensions be breaking their compatability with other, less featureful, servers?
