The X Developer's Meeting is now underway at the Cambridge Research Laboratory in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Federico Mena-Quintero has put a nice write-up online of the first day of talks, the write-up is available here

um, what does your comment mean? Apps/toolkits will use these extensions. How will apps that do use these extensions that show up on my windows or solaris x server? Will there be a software fallback? Won't these apps then be incredibly slow? The software fallbacks are often neglected and don't work as well. I know for example that my fonts are totally messed up if I use exceed with a newer gnome app and the background is not white.
