More on Mono, Novell

In light of the recent Mono 1.0 release there is a lot of coverage on Novell and Mono lately. NewsForge recently talked with Erik Dasque, the senior project leader for Mono, about the release of 1.0, the controversy and criticisms encountered along the way, and the plans for the future, while Miguel de Icaza spoke to CNET News.com shortly before the company began shipping Mono version 1.0. Elsewhere, InfoWorld posted an article about the "new face" of Novell.

Re: More on Mono, Novell

No, again. You just won't. Mono and Wine work together quite nice at least on linux. I don't see people installing wine(x) on a Unix machine.

Btw foobar, you know very well that most apps use wrapper scripts in the path anyways. A lot of bigger applications need to be run in their working directory where their data is located. All these apps don't even work without a wrapper that changes the directory for that shell instance.

The argument is moot and you know it. It's amusing with what kind of nonsense people come up just because they don't like the project.

If you feel the Mono project threatens the very existance of Linux, just say so. People might or might not agree, but arguing about a file extension is just a waste of your and everyone elses time.
