Gaim is an Instant Messaging application written in GTK2+.

From the news page: "Key features include better browser support, improved way of initiating file transfers, support for the Epiphany web browser, and support for the GTK+ 2.4 file chooser. Go grab it. "

You can get it at http://gaim.sourceforge.net and it is already in Debian unestable

Huh. Well, you can change their alias. Do you mean you want a rename feature? Gaim used to have this in the alias dialog, but it went away in the big UI rewrite (I know, because I actually wrote that gtk1 dialog). What actual information do you expect to be able to edit? I only see Screen Name, Alias, Group, Account in my Add Buddy dialog; the only one you can't change easily is the screen name. I guess I don't understand what you expect to be able to do.
