The well known image viewer and browser, gThumb, had a new version today, 2.6.0. New features include but not limited to: Allow to CD burn the current catalog. Use the Gtk+ UI Manager to handle menus and toolbar. Use the Gtk+ FileChooser for saving and loading images or selecting folders. You can rate the application here.

What I really really realy would like is gthumb to automatically rotate images based on the appropriate exif field.

I use the wonderful jpegexifrotate applet, that sets just a bit in the image, and voilą gqview rotates the image for on the fly while viewing it. (It does not unfortunately rotate the thumbnail, but tha's better than nothing)....
