The well known image viewer and browser, gThumb, had a new version today, 2.6.0. New features include but not limited to: Allow to CD burn the current catalog. Use the Gtk+ UI Manager to handle menus and toolbar. Use the Gtk+ FileChooser for saving and loading images or selecting folders. You can rate the application here.

The biggest problem with displaying the image rotated in the viewer is that it won't necessarily display correctly in other viewing applications. I much prefer to use jhead on the command line to rotate the images to their correct orientation before viewing them.
