Ask questions to the candidates running for the GNOME Foundation elections

Gnome Foundation
Gnome Foundation

The official list of candidates running for the elections will be known next week. Before the vote occurs, a debate will happen. We usually send questions to the candidates to launch the debate. If you want to see some discussion about what is important to you, here's your chance to make it happen! Of course, you'll still be able to directly ask questions to the candidates by posting them on foundation-list.

Please ask one question per post (and no more). The 10 best questions will be selected and sent to the candidates. You may want to look at the questions from previous elections, at the GNOME Foundation charter and at this overview of the board.

Note that being on the board of the GNOME Foundation is not a technical job, so please try to avoid posting questions about software development.

Multimedia in Gnome

I am sure that you like everyone else wants multimedia to be a strong point of Gnome. GStreamer is the multimedia framework used by Gnome. Are you going to push for tighter integration with GStreamer in the Gnome Desktop?

For example, playing the system sounds with GStreamer, making all apps that are part of Gnome to do any multimedia work with GStreamer rather than using alsa/oss directly. I am specifically targetting modules such as GnomeMeeting.

Also are you going to push for a replacement of esound as the default sound server?
