FlashLinux 0.3.3 released

GNOME
GNOME

Flash Linux is a compact Linux distribution designed to fit onto a 256Mb USB key.
Major changes since the previous release;

  • The distro comes as an ISO image of a "Live CD"

  • Once installed the system runs off a JFFS2 based filesystem

The current image contains a Gnome 2.8 desktop, Abiword and Gnumeric. (Screenshots)
See the Homepage for more details, downloads from the Sourceforge project page.

Looking good guys! Keep it up

Looking good guys! Keep it up...

is the JFFS2 read-write or read-only?

If it's read-write, then...

So Long Hard Drives!

For that matter, so long floppies too. The only moving parts would be cooling fans and the CD/DVD drive.

Hmm, think of the security this could give. Plug the USB key in to the laptop, boot, run completely off the key. No hard drive or floppy. When you're done, suspend/power-off the laptop, pull the key, voila. Someone steals the laptop, and finds it's totally useless. In the meantime, your files are safe and sound in your pocket.
