AbiWord v2.2.3 Released

We are happy to announce the availability of AbiWord v2.2.3. This release contains a great amount of bug fixes and improvements over the previous release. This is especially true for the MacOSX platform
We would like to thank all users who took the time to submit bugreports, notifying us of possible improvements or bugs. A great number of them has been addressed, which we hope is noticeable.

This release is a bugfix release only. The changes from 2.2.2 to 2.2.3 include,
amongst others:

  • Extensive MacOSX port improvements
  • Fixed a number of crashes related to image wrapping, textbox handling and maintaining document histories
  • Several Table of Contents, Format TextBox and Format table dialog enhancements in the Windows port

As always, users are advised to upgrade to this new version.

why ibm sun novell aren't founding this project???

I wonder how many $$$ where spent by them in gnome project
and why they doesn't pay a full time developer for every program of the
suite..

Open Office was there first.

Sure it has lots of issues like being 10 times larger and at least 10 times harder to develop for.

But it was there.

I also think no one believed we could produce a full featured Word Processor in 1/10th the number of LOC's as OOo.

Now those companies have customers they need to support so they keep on OOo.

Never mind, we're doing fine :-)

Sun aren't likely to fund it when they produce Star-Office (Open Office).

As to the others, don't really know why not.

AbiWord is my true love.

Impresive that such a small program can compete with Open Office!

Shouldn't that read infrastructure for a grammar checker will be in the 2.4 release? AFAIK there are very few free grammar checkers out there, especially when you stray from the common english.

By common do you mean proper Brittish? Or how about laxidazical American? Or the odd Canadian? Perhaps the humerous Australian? Wow, this will be hard, though I don't think the rules are really different at all.

By common I ment to express exactly what you expressed - a whole lot of languages that are quite similar - yet different; much like the common cold ;-)

And yes, as someone duly pointed out - I ment non english based languages such as dutch, german, swedish or hindu.
