I'm pleased to announce the immediate availability of the latest stable
release of The GNOME Desktop and
developer platform, 2.8.3.

This is the third and last maintenance release of the stable 2.8.x
series of GNOME and it contains a huge amount of bugfixes and other
improvements since the last release. Thanks to everyone involved in
making GNOME software better.

Detailed information about the changes in this release is attached.

A few months ago, I wrote a p

A few months ago, I wrote a patch to instruct the Window Selector applet to display applications instead of windows, but I encountered too many bugs to continue development, many of which were a result from fixing other deficiencies in the applet, such as its ability to handle a renamed window, etc.

Perhaps in the next few months I could have a new, clean release.
