Gaim 1.1.4

GNOME IM
GNOME IM

Gaim 1.1.4 is available.
Turns out 1.1.3 wasn't perfect. A lot of you using GLib 2.6 hit a crash on startup. Also, we missed a potential security bug identical to one fixed for 1.1.3. So, after one week, we bring you 1.1.4. Enjoy.

If you've enable evolution integration with more than two accounts of the same protocol, then you will have the same simptoms that you reported. Try just integrating one account per protocol (yes, I know this is more of a work-around than a fix.

Ack, I can't delete this comment, anyway, it goes to the thread two below here, who had problems w/ buddies.

gaim sucks ch

gaim have a few issues:

changing avatar: it's extremely idiot going to accounts manager to change (without preview) the buddy icon.

ordering: how can you order like msn does the buddy list? this is listing connected vs non connected people, all in the same group.

IMHO amsn is far more mature than gaim.

Doh

Some sort of a trolling attempt? Remember that amsn doesn't support many protocols, unlike gaim. And besides, just check gaim configuration -> buddy list -> sorting order

Adding buddies

Adding buddies never really worked for me. Every time I add a new user it is added twice. If I delete one of them, it re-appears automatically. If I delete both, both are removed.

So far I worked around it by closing gaim, editing the xml in the .gaim directory, then re-opened gaim. Really annoying. Maybe it has something to do with that I do not use the default group "buddies"?

Create a bug report

Gnomedesktop is not the right place to complain, you should create a bug report here:

First, for something to suck,

First, for something to suck, you must define "suck". And I believe the answer is 2.0.0, when a lot of 'useless' options will be removed, and other options consolodated.

A school browser? All I have is this crappy web browser.

Clean up UI?

What is there to clean up? IMHO gaim is perfectly fine as it is: it doesn't clutter your desktop as everything is in a compact small window, all the buddies are in the same easy-to-use list and it's rather straight forward to use even for a newbie.

The UI sucks! by Anonymous George

Well

How does that make the whole UI suck? Admittedly they could and should fix that, but what else is there then? And btw, there's a better way than XML...just search the menu.

nice app and very good work in it, but...

very good app, I'm in love with it ^_^, but... although it can be a little *off-topic*... will Gaim have someday support for videoconferencing or microphone usage with the MSN protocol?

that's the only thing that makes me keep my windows partition alive, so it could be great to have that kind of support in Gaim (yes, I know gnome-meeting fits the purpose at a certain extent, but... well.. it's not the same, and I can't force my friends to clean the dust on their old netmeeting installations)

well... apart from this, thanks for a wonderful app like gaim :)

Next gstreamer version by Anonymous George

1.0 ?

AFAIK the version coming after 0.9 is 0.10 (planned for May)
so the question is gaim-vv development is stalled until gstreamer 1.0 or 0.10?
