I've created an article with mockups and ideas for things that I'd like to see GNOME 3.* doing in the future.

I'm at work right now, and I have 23 windows open on my windows box, and 17 on my Linux box. This is pretty much standard for anyone who needs to multitask. With the panel on the right hand side, it's easy to find windows...all titles are displayed. If I put the panel across the bottom, I'm forever sifting through irritating groupings of windows, or looking at a hopelessly overcrowded situation.

There's something to be said for a RHS panel.
