GNOME - Future ideas

GNOME
GNOME

I've created an article with mockups and ideas for things that I'd like to see GNOME 3.* doing in the future.
The article can be seen here, with more ideas and things available through my blog, such as the Scoop proposal, and a mockup of how to make drag and drop far easier with spatial nautilus.

Keep it together

I would like to add that I have seen numerous joe-sixpack users that I've seen try and use the application bar at the top of the screen. When they want to quit an application, they close the window. It is gone, so they figure that the app is closed. Later you see that they have 15 applications open, but none of them are actually doing anything, because they didn't select "File->Quit" from the application bar. An application's components and controls should stay with it's main window or the window that is active (say a dialog box or with SDI).

An optional Application Menu applet would be fine, but do not make it the "sensible default."
