Foresight Desktop Linux, now cooler looking!

GNOME
GNOME

Foresight Desktop Linux is a distribution which showcases some of the latest and greatest from GNOME. With a great focus on usability, yet still up to date. Some of the more innovative things are included, like mono, beagle, f-spot, howl, hal, and oversite systems management. All of this plus some nice, clean default themes and artwork. FDL 0.8 includes many updates to existing packages, great hardware detection using hal/udev/gnome-volume-manager, and a new bootsplash. Check out some screenshots.

For a current list of included packages and versions, check out the package list.

Our team has spent a great deal of time packaging some very cool games, not all of which are included in the distro but easily installed from the conary repository. Check it out, you will like it!

Install Speed

The only complaints we've heard about speed was install speed, which used to take ~1 hour for a full (3G) install. Some recent improvements have sped that up to around 30 minutes, so I don't think that should be an issue any more.

As far as overall system speed, Foresight is as fast as Ubuntu, Fedora or Gentoo. No reason for it not to be!
