AbiWord
AbiWord

The AbiWord team, developers of the award-winning multi-platform Word Processor, is very proud to announce AbiWord v2.3.0, the first snapshot of the development that will lead to AbiWord 2.4.

This snapshot allows interested developers, testers and users a sneak preview into the future of AbiWord.

New features of this release include (amongst others):

Table to Text
Tight Textwapping around Images
Grammar Checking (Plugin)
Math Support (Plugin)
GNOME Office Chart Embedding (Plugin, experimental)
OpenDocument Support (Plugin, experimental)

AbiWord v2.3.0 is parallel installable with AbiWord v2.2 so users can try it out without disturbing their stable AbiWord 2.2 version. We are very much interested in any bug you may find. Please report these to http://bugzilla.abisource.com/.

While we encourage people to try out the new snapshot, please be aware that is a development snapshot and is not expected to be stable in any sort of way.

Please confirm my statements.

I have been told that the problems I outlined are in fact, bugs that have supposedly been filed.

Poor tracking.

Poor kerning.

Poor hyphenation.

No SmartQuotes.

Have these problems been fixed?

Plese prove to me that they are either non-exisent, or have been fixed in this new version, and I will be more than happy to retract my statments, offer my sincere apologies, and congratulate the Abiword devs on a fine job.

My specs:

CLEAN install of Ubuntu Hoary, GNOME 2.10, with a complete Abiword install (both 2.2.1 and 2.2.7 tested on my machine.)
HP Deskjet 5150, with drivers installed from the Ubuntu repositories.
CUPS fully functional.
No errors present on OS bootup.

Thanks.
