TESTING! TESTING! TESTING!
--------------------------

This release is a feature, user interface, and string frozen snapshot
primarily intended for wide public scrutiny before the final GNOME
2.12 release in September. GNOME uses odd minor version numbers to
indicate development status. Please check the 2.11 page for more info:

Happy testing!

Reason it's missing by Anonymous George

For the Mandriva users...

You can upgrade your Cooker systems to GNOME 2.11.91 by adding gpwgnome to your urpmi sources.

It's all happening. . .

Since running Ubuntu Breezy for the last month or so I've been keeping Gnome 'up to date'. Updating a few packages at the time of writing as it happens.

Generally things look pretty good, performance in particular is somewhat crisper. Good stuff.

Having said that, the initial loading of the desktop on bootup is still slow, as is the menu when first accessed.

I realise that this is still in testing, but load times are still plaguing Gnome.

Lets hope this snaps up before 2.12 final.

BTW, does anyone remember the grouping of opened applications as a single button on the panel that appeared briefly during the testing of 2.10. I quite liked this feature as it reduced clutter dramatically.

Perhaps someone could enlighten me as to why this has not reappeared.

For now though, Gnome 2.12 looks pretty darn good, thanks folks keep up the good work.

Isn't it the Window Selector applet?

CVSGnome 0.5.7

And the matching build script for CVS and Tarballs got released as well:

http://www.akcaagac.com/index_cvsgnome.html

Please note that it builds the latest Tarballs or latest CVS for testing as available on the servers. It usually builds GNOME the way I like it and tries to stay as minimalistic as possible. So enjoy this new version.
