Overview of Changes in Rhythmbox 0.9.0

The changes are too numerous to list here, but the main focuses have been on stability and memory usage. So your Rhythmbox should be even more stable, and less resource hungry.

Rhythmbox has moved its development tree back to GNOME's CVS servers, which means it's easier to get a hold of it for people who want to live on the cutting-edge. It also means that development has picked up again (the last release was nearly 10 months ago), and that new features will be coming thick and fast!

I quit using Rhythmbox long

I quit using Rhythmbox long ago for amaroK. Rhythmbox is just so out-of-date, and it crashes a lot, too. I hate to say it: even though Rhythmbox looks nice (as does GNOME), it is really an unfulfilled promise when compared to what KDE and its software family offers.

If you want my specific and tangible gripe: playing FLAC files with Rhythmbox results in audio with some high-pitch distortion in the background. Then again, I even noticed this with other media files in Rhythmbox. It is not necessarily GStreamer's fault, because I have used GStreamer in amaroK.

All in all, I am not very impressed with this software anymore.
