Overview of Changes in Rhythmbox 0.9.0

The changes are too numerous to list here, but the main focuses have been on stability and memory usage. So your Rhythmbox should be even more stable, and less resource hungry.

Rhythmbox has moved its development tree back to GNOME's CVS servers, which means it's easier to get a hold of it for people who want to live on the cutting-edge. It also means that development has picked up again (the last release was nearly 10 months ago), and that new features will be coming thick and fast!

Good to see a C program surviving

Reading gnome planet and seeing ross's recent post regarding Banshee as an included media player, I have come to realize that it's good to see C programs being written. Yes, C# is easier to code, however it cannot be optimized as well as C. C# is excellent for companies who need programs written for personal use, that need to be changed last minute for a new fix or whatnot. It's a fine language for that. But these are desktop applications that we are now writing in C#. Fine do that. But please don't include it as a default with gnome. I have run various mono based applications, and while they run fine on my machine, they do run somewhat slower. There are reasons why people don't write everything in java. And this is a similar situation. This is not a mono flame. This is just an observation, and a request to keep the desktop and it's primary applications(and yes a media player is now considered a primary desktop application) based on the same code. Something nice and optimizeable...C
