New lugradio episode out

Mono
Mono

The LUGRadio team is out with a new fun and exciting show. Of special interest for GNOME people is an interview with Joe Shaw about Beagle, the desktop search tool. The show is available from the lugradio website and also features discussion about the glory of podcasting, interview on openSuse and a musical extravagance from drummer Jono Bacon and Adam Sweet on the bass guitar. Its Jono's first public musical appearance since he toured under the stagename Glenn Medeiros in the eighties :)

redhat don't want mono by Anonymous George

Why won't Redhat Ship MONO Stuff?

I didn't realize there was a mystery here. My understanding is that Redhat has made it extremely clear that they feel MONO is a minefield for litigation by Microsoft. Is that not the case? I for one, am glad that Redhat has decided to NOT include MONO based applications in the distribution.

Red Hat claims they got

Red Hat claims they got legal advice which makes it impossible for them to ship Mono, but they are not allowed to talk about it. Not a pretty situation.

Your comment about the chains is very low, you could say the same about any potentially patent encumbered software (and that basically includes everything). The proper way to "combat" Mono is not to spread uncertainty around the community, but to develop a feasable alternative.
