I have released Gnumeric 1.5.5, our latest efforts in the development series.

This release repairs the long-broken solver and fixes a couple of problems with the sheet management dialog.

Not going anywhere

Gnumeric is a labour of love. Ximian payed for some of the initial development, but it has never been a day job.

OOo is an interesting project. I hope to modularize some of the spreadsheet elements so that we can share code amongst the free spreadsheets, but it's a long haul. There will certainly be knowledge transfer between the projects, but I'll be part of the Gnumeric
team for the foreseeable future.

Jody now has to hack on OOo?

I notice Jody committed some changes in this release, but I also understand he is now required by his job to spend his time on OOo Calc, not Gnumeric?

Kind of sad, but hopefully he will rip the guts out of OOo and replace it with Gnumeric code / libgoffice :-)
