Galeon, Epiphany ready for a reunion

Galeon
Galeon

Newsforge have an article covering the announced merger of Galeon and Epiphany. So if you aren't aware of the history of the two projects and how they relate to eachother, now is a good time to catch up.

Reunion... yeah, I suppose

Reunion... yeah, I suppose that's one way to look at it.

Another, perhaps more honest, way is this: Galeon was the GNOME browser. Corporate politics and back-hand deals meant that Epiphany took over that role -- despite its unpopularity with virtually everyone except for Havoc Pennington and a couple of his accolytes. Galeon slowly died on the vine, until it reached the point that the developers simply couldn't keep working on it. Now they propose to turn it into an Epiphany extension.
