Xara Xtreme available for Linux

Xara has announced the availability of their vector graphics application Xara Xtreme for GNU/Linux. It is ported to Linux using wxWidgets and GTK+ and the source code is available under the GPL. They have screenshots available online and they look very nice. Going forward they want to cooperate as much as possible with the Inkscape team so hopefully a beautifullly vectorized future lies ahead for us. So be sure to grab the latest source or binary and give it a testrun.

I agree with you TopDown,

I agree with you TopDown, this comment actually shows that you do have some basic knowledge.

I have quite a lot of knowledge actually. You don't want to believe the drivel of WereCat and his fellow Fluendo fanbois. Not only do they not know anything about the subject of DRM, the plans of hardware makers... or in fact much of anything at all... they can't even see past their own zealous love of Gstreamer to see the problem.

In short: it's a waste of effort. There are only so many iterations of the same crap you can go through with those who refuse to read the messages properly or understand what is being said. See also, Murray Cumming and the Glom thread. I'll be quite happy to point out Gstreamer's many failings, and the dishonesty of Fluendo in the next available article though.

As for Gstreamer -- I tried the latest version on a fresh machine. It crashed when I tried to play an avi file. Shocked... not. Perhaps it would have helped to standardize on one version... but that would require them to know what they are doing... which they clearly don't.

I'll say it again... GStreamer... overdesigned and poorly written mass of bugs.
