Fedora and Mono and OIN

Worried about Mono and patents? Heard of the OIN?

OIN is the Open Invention Network. Prominent members include Red Hat, Sony, Novell, IBM, and Philips, etc. The idea behind OIN: throw a bunch of patents in a pool. Make those patents available to open source developers, and to companies who support open source developers.

More importantly: pool those patents to counterattack companies who might accuse us of infringing *their* patents.

Bad design....

The proper location of Mono(C#) is GCC like java. It's wrong wrong wrong to keep it on the side like a naughty boy wanting to grab as much as it can for himself only.
More over, Novell should restrain itself to break the principle of layers by making the base desktop depend on Mono(C#) (Novell is unreasonably pushy about it). C and only C (with gobjects) for the base desktop and applications. Bindings and only bindings for high level languages.
It's a matter of keeping things clean, straight and on the Right Path(TM).
