Potential sessions for GUADEC's WarmUp weekend and the After Hours workshops

As you probably know, March 31st (next Friday) is the deadline of the GUADEC 2006 Call for Participation. If you have a session in mind please submit it before then, even if it's only a draft or a collection of ideas. You will have more time to explain yourself once your session is submitted and scheduled.
This year we have two new GUADEC phases apart from the 3 GUADEC Core days. They are also at your disposal and you are invited to submit sessions for these phases as well. Think of GUADEC as a funnel, where the WarmUp weekend is the wide entry, GUADEC Core is the neck and the After Hours workshops are in the exit, where the results of the discussions are distilled in hands-on work.
WarmUp Weekend (Sat 24th and Sun 25th)
Participants arrive to GUADEC, wanting to meet face to face after these months of on-line distance. These two days the doors are open to everybody, casual visitors can just come by to have taste of GUADEC, GNOME and free software. Appropriate sessions for this weekend are:
- Locale/regional specific: GNOME Hispano organize like every year GUADEC-ES (in Spanish) and the local groups coordinate activities in Catalan (i.e. Join the Catalan GNOME Translation Team workshop). Meetings of GNOME local groups (Deutschland, France, Italia, UK...) are encouraged, as well as activities in each locale language.
- Introductory: There is also place for introductory sessions and tutorials in English i.e. a Becoming a GNOME Foundation Member session or a Useful Bug Reporting Part I tutorial. The GNOME Love team knows the needs, as well, as any project wanting to get more contributors.
After Hours Workshops (Thu 29th and Fri 30th)
We have already a lot of GNOME discussion in our backs, most of it in sessions with >100 people. Now it's time to get really focused and with tools on the table in order to convert this inertia into real steps forward before everybody goes back to their homes and the on-line dimension. Appropriate session for these days are:
- BOFs: focused discussion between the people that can agree and make a change, open to anybody interested, i.e. any of the GNOME Goals Vincent is advertising.
- Project meetings No need to say more, an opportunity for the developers to meet, leaving the door open to potential contributors and interested (power) users, i.e. a GtkMM meeting or a Glom Status and Feedback workshop.
- Company meetings: instead of kicking the employees back to the office, companies are invited to put them at work in the GUADEC premises, where they can collaborate together with other teams and contributors. The GUADEC committee can provide your requested facilities at no cost - but you need to tell us in advance. No need to specify company names here, but as an example the Board of Directors and the Advisory Board meetings can be held these days.
- Specialized forums: we are trying to put in place a forum about a specific GNOME subject and we have already one candidate, hopefully we will announce this soon. Other ideas are welcome. An example would be last year's Multimedia track.
Conclusion: from the committee point of view we are in the good path to have the infrastructures needed and the required sponsors' support, plus interesting keynotes. All this is not enough though, because the most important element of GUADEC are your sessions. So please, make a difference and submit your suggestions now.
