First release of DIVA

Mono
Mono

The first release of DIVA is available. DIVA is a mono based video editing tool.
This is the initial, ALPHA release of Diva. Please do bear in mind it contains bugs and is not meant for general usage (yet). In particular, this software has received very little testing with NTSC video. Although theoretically things should work fine, they might not and be prepared for that. File the bug reports!

Nah you missunderstood me

Oi.. I am not overreacting.. i have no problem with DIVA.. it seems to be nice really. Its more a general problem... i dont like mono. I really dont like the fact that some mono yay sayer will force this technology into the gnome desktop even if we had several "high level" languages like python being their for a decade and they havent got into gnome yet.

I dont like mono, because its a .NET rip off.. sorry i still can't help the fact. I dont't have good feeling even if Icaza and everyone keeps repeating "we love microsft, they love us too and will never harm us with their millions and millions of patents they have".

And what i really dont like is the hype about every new piece of mono software that gets released. Banshee is another good example, when it was released everyone was going like "WOOOW HOW GREAT" because they had a nice website from the start and more icons on their interface.

But really they had less features than rhytmbox and provided no more functionality at first than a simple xmms. Still anyone jumped on the "Yay Banshee" weagon and a good app like RB lost attention of users and developers.. cause everyone wants to be on the "Yay wagon".

RB now has a great new Maintainer "James Livingston" that really pushes the limits with RB and its features. Now RB has all the modern features users could want but not one writes anything about it anymore, only articles that say about Banshee "the gnome player we always needed YAY" get written. Next example, the same happened for Muine and now? Is Muine somehwere? After the initial Mono hype was gone?.... nah...

Next example Gthumb.. great photo management tool. Now its very stable, fast and useable. BUT nooo you come out with an alpha software called F-Spot and anyone goes "YAY MONO!!!" again... totally ignoring the fact that the Gthumb Devs are improving Gthumb like crazy. Now you have Novell forcing F-Spot to be the standard GNOME picture management tool etc..

And thats my reason. We already have good FAST and less memory hungry ( which REALLY counts for soo many people.. not everyone has a 2GB RAM machine... ) applications, then someone rewrites them with a more fancy name, a nicer homepage ( for some reason all mono apps have a very nice homepage indeed ) in mono... then some hyping some forcing and in future we end up with a mono apps cluttered desktop that is slow like hell and uses memory like supercrazy.

I dont want THAT.. we could have used Python if we wanted our desktop to be memory superhungry... and i was their for a decade and provides just as much functionality as mono.

Perhaps i am a bit harsh against mono, but thats my taste.. i dont like it gives me the creeps when i think about having a mono driven gnome desktop.
