Banshee, the next best thing to Linux iTunes

I want an audio player that will do everything that Apple's iTunes does..... including working with my iPod ..... and do it natively on Linux. That's a tall order. I've tried many fine Linux programs..... KDE's amaroK, RealPlayer 10 for Linux, Xine, etc. .... but none have scratched my itch.

Banshee is cool, but it

Banshee is cool, but it takes to much from my computer. It uses about 196mb of virtual memory and 60mb from RAM and something about 20% of processing time. It's too much for a music player. I use gmpc and mpd - they have less features but run really fast.
