File Permissions in Nautilus

Alexander Larsson recently committed his work on the permissions page in Nautilus. He writes: I just commited a rework of the permissions page in the file property dialog. It has a simplified UI (and an advanced/unixy version availible via a gconf setting) and support for recursive permission changes.

Why did users have to clamor

Why did users have to clamor about file permissions issues for years?

Because people were complaining about a bunch of other things as well that got fixed first. Font rendering, internationalization, file selector, editable toolbars, cut and paste, vectorized themes, speed.... Seriously, I understand the frustration of not seeing something implemented that you feel is important, but there are limited resources and there are priorities. That and I think there are something like five Nautilus developers who have had to rewrite most of the codebase since Eazel dumped it in their laps.
