GCstar, collection manager

Bag of Software
Bag of Software

GCstar is a new application made to manage personal collections.

Detailed information on each item can be automatically retrieved from the internet and you can store additional data, such as the location or who you've lent it to. You may also search and filter your collection by some criteria.

Current version manages movies and video games collections. Future version will include new type of collections.

GCstar is the successor of GCfilms and provides for movies the same features as GCfilms did.

I'll download it as soon...

I'll download it as soon as the maintainer changes the name. In a time when so many projects have finally abandoned G* names, it's explicable why this project continues.

I don't understand why it is

I don't understand why it is a problem to have G as the 1st letter. Are some kind of guidelines about the letters that project should use or not in their names? If there are, I'd like to know them so I won't do this mistake again.

I can't judge if GCstar is a great app or not. But choosing to use or not an application based on its name is a little weird isn't it?

I like that program, though by Anonymous George (not verified)

Books

Alexandria is a GNOME application for managing books. It's already full of whizbang features.

Thank you for your interest

Thank you for your interest in this application.

This version only supports 2 kind of collections but is ready to have other ones in future versions (CDs and books being obviously good candidates).

Actually, the next version will also include a feature to let users create easily (at least I hope so) their own kind of collections.

I should have mentioned in the article that there is a mailing list for new releases:
