AbiWord-2.4.5 released.

AbiWord
AbiWord

We know it's way overdue, but still the AbiWord team is happy to announce the availability of AbiWord v2.4.5.
This release a bugfix release only, but this time the amount of bugfixes is rather huge.
Especially the import and export filters have received a lot of attention due to the Google Summer of Code program,
which is funding these developments.

The changes from v2.4.4 to v2.4.5 include, amongst others...

  • Almost completely rewrote the DocBook export filter, gaining substantial more functionality in the process
  • Fixed a security bug pointed out to us by Joxean Koret (thanks!)
  • Fixed a massive amount of bugs in the OpenDocument import and export filters
  • Fixed the unstability on x86_64 architectures
  • The full Changelog can be found here.

Needless to say, all users are advised to upgrade

Packages for Windows and Linux are available for download from our site. A Mac OSX installer should be available for download soon.

Note to Mac OSX users: please aware that the font rendering is still a work-in-progress. Depending on the
fonts used the quality of the rendering may be sub-optimal. We hope to address this issue as soon as possible, but since
AbiWord is a 100% volunteer effort, we don't give any timeframe. Help is always appreciated though.

We are very much interested in any bug you may find. Please report these to http://bugzilla.abisource.com/.

    Great word processor!

Just wanted to thanks the abiword developers for their excellent work, abi is mostly a pleasure to use nowadays.

It's also very interesting the collaborative editing features you're putting into abi. They are a big bonus for getting youngs into the program (word processing between two kids is a lot of fun for them, almost like those chats they love). Gnome is people, certainly.

And thanks to the anonymous poster for the full changelog. Reproduced here (besides, a good evening read to escape from summer hottness here in the mediterranean side ;-).

The full Changelog can be by Anonymous George (not verified)
