Call for participation: Siggraph 2006, 1-3 August, Boston, USA

GNOME
GNOME

The Blender Foundation, the GNOME Foundation (including the GIMP) and the Uni-verse consortium have partnered together to organize a presentation of Free and Open Source software for the entire Computer Graphics creation pipeline. We will have a 30'x20' island stand in the main aisle of the Siggraph 2006 conference.

We need volunteers!

For the conference, we need volunteers for lots of things...

  • People who can help setting up the systems (install linux, the tools) and a network
  • Artists who would like to demo GNOME or the GIMP (one to one) on our permanent demonstration 'pod'.
  • People with sufficient guts to demo GNOME or the GIMP on the giant screen, and talk about it even... doing public tutorials.
  • People who like to be around for general services... like getting bottles of water, do urgent shopping (powerstrips, cables), get sandwiches for people, and so on.

If you were planning on going to Siggraph, or if you wanted to but thought it was too expensive, and if you'd like to help out GNOME or the GIMP on a rocking trade stand, drop a mail to Dave Neary and come to Boston! The show has 3 main days, August 1st to 3rd, but we need people on the 31st and on the 4th for set-up and tear-down too.

All volunteers will get an official "Exhibitor Badge", which grants Siggraph access close to "Conference Select" level, and tickets for the Electronic Theatre.

(with thanks to Ton over at Blender for most of the text on the volunteers part).
