Like clockwork, the GNOME project released GNOME 2.18 six months after the release of GNOME 2.16. The new version carries a number of improvements over the 2.16 release, but doesn't bring many "must have" features that would compel users to upgrade right away.

What did you expect?

Does it seem any differnt coming from a reviewer than a lowly user?

I think that Gnome should concern itself more with making the desktop and Nautilus better, than adding more software to it's minimal base. More does not mean better? The possibility for integration should be there, but just grabbing applications, and bundling them so they will have to be maintained--does not make a better desktop experience.

Meanwhile, there's a whole new crop of multimedia applications out there--with no standard GTK+ widgets for them. Just because a widget isn't necessary for a 2D bitmap program does not mean that it isn't needed for the desktop.
