GNOME Roadmap Released

GNOME
GNOME

The GNOME Roadmap for 2.20 (and partially for 2.22 and future 2.x releases) is available at:

  http://live.gnome.org/RoadMap

The GNOME Roadmap is a big-picture view of functionality we expect GNOME to include in short-term and long-term future. The roadmap is based on feedback from current GNOME developers and other community members.

We hope this roadmap increases the awereness about the future steps of the project inside and outside the community and helps us to look forward and plan where we want to go.

Anyone have any more

Anyone have any more concrete info on 3.0? Roadmaps / timelines / suggestions / etc? KDE has 4.0 coming out soon and I'm wondering when the next major rev of Gnome is to be expected. The 2.0 release was a HUGE improvement over the 1.x series (or at least it was eventually), and I'm looking forward to seeing what the 3.x series brings.

Nevermind. From the 3.0

Nevermind. From the 3.0 roadmap section:

"There are no plans for a GNOME 3.0 release at this time. The GNOME community believes that regular, reliable, iterative improvements are more important to our users than ground-shaking major releases, and that we can more comfortably deliver major features -- when they're ready -- in our regular, six-monthly releases."

Makes sense I suppose. So long as features and updates that need to be in the 2.x series aren't withheld, I'll be satisfied.
