GNOME 2 in Sid this Sunday

Debian
Debian

DebianPlanet Reports:
Christian Marillat and Colin Walters have completed all the steps required to transition GNOME 2 from experimental into sid, and will be doing so on Sunday: announcement here. Note the following bit: "Christian Marillat and I have written transition scripts, and they have been tested by us on some .gnome directories, but no one else I'm aware of has tested them yet. So if you haven't helped us out by testing them already, then you will be forced to anyways this Sunday :)".So, to all GNOME 1.4 sid users out there, you may want to spend some time this weekend to ensure your configurations are going to be safe come this Sunday.

Re: GNOME 2 in Sid this Sunday

Well, are you using sid's GDM? The new GDM isn't included in Debian (not even in experimental). And the old one uses GTK1.2 , so no antialiasing for you.

If you _are_ using GDM2/GTK2, you just need to make sure GDK_XFT="1" is in the environment -> not only of the user you're logging it with, but when GDM starts up. /etc/environment I believe.
