Pan Newsreader
The Pan newsreader project is active again making new releases. The 0.9x releases are a series of unstable betas of a C++ rewrite of Pan that adds multiserver and nzb support, reduces memory use by over two thirds, can cut the time to download new headers by over two thirds, and slashes the time it takes to load headers from disk by almost 90%. A new stable version of the Pan newsreader 0.14.0 - "I'm Being Nibbled to Death by Cats!" has been released.
0.14.0 supports slrn and XNews-style scorefiles. Seven betas were released to
smooth out Pan's scorefile integration and to shake out any scorefile bugs.
This shook out quite a few bugs from the 0.13 series as well...

This is the first non-beta release in two months. In that time Pan has been ported to gtk2, added font and charset handling in reading and posting, improved offline reading, added many usability improvements, dropped most library prerequisites, about 15 bugs from the last stable release, and had five beta releases to shake out any new bugs.

This is mostly a stability release. It fixes about twenty-five bugs
that were present in 0.11.2, and adds few new features, with the
notable exception of yEnc support.

This is a port of Pan to gtk2.
The gtk1 (0.11.2.9x) and gtk2 (0.11.9x) branches of Pan are being developed in parallel,
so they share bugfixes and most features. This gtk2 branch does add some new features though..........

Pan 0.12.0 is the gtk+ 2.0 port of Pan which is being developed in parallel with 0.11.3, which is a bugfix release. All of 0.11.3's bugfixes are folded into 0.12, but it adds some neat new graphics and finally adds support for posting and reading non-Latin charset languages.
0.12.0 is coming along quickly and will have a public beta next week. Here's a screenshot taken earlier today to show off the new i18n support.

Over thirty bugs have been fixed in the stable branch since 0.11.1. During that time there were also five betas to weed out any new bugs. In addition 0.11.2 is also faster, uses less memory, and adds many small improvements to the user interface.
