The Pan newsreader project is active again making new releases. The 0.9x releases are a series of unstable betas of a C++ rewrite of Pan that adds multiserver and nzb support, reduces memory use by over two thirds, can cut the time to download new headers by over two thirds, and slashes the time it takes to load headers from disk by almost 90%. 0.12.1 "The din of other people"
0.12.91 "By the surly beard of Mrifk, Grignr kneels to no man!"

0.12.1 is a stable bugfix release, addressing the most common
issues reported against 0.12.0. Most fixes are related to i18n,
so non-English users will want to upgrade to this release.

0.12.90 is an unstable beta release that starts with 0.12.1,
restores Pan's old single-click filtering buttons, then adds
a toolbar,
optional spellchecking,
the ability to restore tasks from the previous session --
and maybe a few bugs. :)

Pan Newsreader
Pan Newsreader

This is a port of Pan to gtk2.
The gtk1 (0.11.2.9x) and gtk2 (0.11.9x) branches of Pan are being developed in parallel,
so they share bugfixes and most features. This gtk2 branch does add some new features though..........

Charles Kerr writes:
Pan 0.12.0 is the gtk+ 2.0 port of Pan which is being developed in parallel with 0.11.3, which is a bugfix release. All of 0.11.3's bugfixes are folded into 0.12, but it adds some neat new graphics and finally adds support for posting and reading non-Latin charset languages.

0.12.0 is coming along quickly and will have a public beta next week. Here's a screenshot taken earlier today to show off the new i18n support.

Pan 0.11.2 Released
